Sumy State University

Foreign citizens have the opportunity to acquire the Ukrainian/English language at the Preparatory Department which is a structural unit of the Department of International Education. The main task of the Preparatory Department is to teach language as a communication means and an instrument for acquiring the specialty. Another important task is the unification of the Preparatory Department listeners’ knowledge on general education disciplines according to the Ukrainian secondary school level. More than 1600 foreign students studied at the Preparatory Department from 1991 till the present.

  Training is conducted at a high professional level. Students are fully provided with scientific literature, learner’s guides, and materials. Modern educational technologies are used to ensure the successful acquiring of the subjects.  

Departments, which provide the training process at the Preparatory Department:

• Department of the Language Training of Foreign Citizens;
• Department of Mathematics Analysis and Methods of Optimization;
• Department of General Chemistry;
• Department of Applied Biology;
• Department of General and Theoretical Physics;
• Department of Information Technology of Design.

 

Terms of training at the Preparatory Department – 10 (ten) months (September – June).

Foreign citizens who successfully complete the curriculum, receive the state-recognized certificate which allows them to enter Sumy State University or other higher educational establishments of Ukraine.  

Pedagogical work

At the Preparatory Department, much attention is paid to the pedagogical work of foreign citizens which is provided taking into account foreign students’ national peculiarities, religion, culture, ethics, and habits, and which help them to adapt to new living and learning conditions quicker.
