NTU "KhPI" performs the organizational and technical functions for the creation and development of external relations with foreign partners. NTU "KhPI" has repeatedly been recognized as one of the best universities, both in the region and in Ukraine for its active international cooperation. Active participation in international organizations is one of the main priorities of NTU "KhPI" international activity. Since December 1, 1998, the National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute" is a member of the Alliance of Universities for Democracy (AUDEM).
On March 28, 2007, the Council of the European Association of Universities accepted the National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute" as a full individual member of the European Association.
From November 1, 2009, by the decision of the Executive Committee of the Black Sea University Network (BSUN), the National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute" was admitted to the Black Sea University Network (BSUN).
On March 10, 2009, the National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute" became a full member of the Eurasian Association of Universities.
Kharkiv Polytechnic is a participant in the international ranking RUR World University Rankings 2022, which ranks universities in some areas: teaching, research, international diversity, financial stability.
Despite the circumstances and the war in our country, KhPI is among the best universities in the world according to the RUR-2022 rating.
According to the results of the evaluation, KhPI took the 3rd place among all universities of Ukraine and the first place among technical universities.
In the general list the university occupies 675 position.
